The Delicious Miss Dahl's Kitchen

I have been watching the cooking series 'The Delicious Miss Dahl' from the first episode I have fallen for the homely vintage styled kitchen. So when I discovered the home the series is filmed in (no sorry it doesn't belong to Miss Dahl herself) is in Crouch End, London and for sale for £1.45 million I checked my piggy bank, but I am quite a lot short of the asking price!

The quirky filming and an amazing sound track to each week, aired on BBC on a tuesday night, it's well worth watching.
Here are a few photos of before and after a touch of some clever styling, enjoy.

too cute

Wendy my sister-in-law in Australia has just sent me these images and I just had to share, they are too cute. Wendy crocheted a cocoon for her friend Anne-Maree's little baby 'Autumn Rose' to be snuggled in for a photo shoot.

How adorable is Autumn Rose?

Figaro........

Sukai from my sewing/computer room window, now what a cute view.

Meet Sukai my little Nissan Figaro, she arrived today as a present from my darling Husband. She is totally retro and driving her is like being in my own old fashioned movie, with her white steering wheel and cute dash board and dials, she was designed to look like a retro Italian 1950's sports coupe.
Built in 1991 she is now 19 years old so a classic car, only 20,000 Nissan Figaros were ever made and due to such large demand in Japan the cars had to be allocated by a raffle!

As you would have seen by some of my previous post Faye and I have loved Figaros for some time now, every time we see one we sing Figaro, figaro, figaro, we are a little crazy I know. But now she is part of our family and we will enjoy our little outings this summer with the roof down and a Cavania picnic hamper filled with strawberries and cream. Im sure you will be seeing a lot more of Sukai in the future, she is going to be a prop in a photo shoot tomorrow!
Byeee I'm off to have a poodle around the village and introduce Sukai to the neighborhood before the sun goes down.

Thank you Christian, I love you. xxx

Pansy Display

I have a 3 tiered sandwich- cake stand that my Mum gave be for my birthday a couple of years ago and thought it would make a nice plant display stand. So a quick trip to the garden center for some pansies, small terracotta pots and using white emulsion paint I had in the shed to paint the pots. I now have a pretty display on my table which should flower the whole summer long.

Sun & Shed

It's been a glorious weekend here in the UK we had clear sky's and sunshine. So Christian and I finally managed to get glass and window frames into our little cape cod style shed that we started to build last Summer. I also did a little gardening and fussed about decorating with enameled jugs and pretty pots.

New Mannequin

Meet Adelina my new mannequin, yes I have been naughty but I just couldn't help it. I have now four mannequins two new that I have recovered and two vintage.

Adelina is a vintage edwardian french c1900s mannequin with a beautiful ornately detailed brass neck cap. I chose the french name 'Adelina' meaning Of the nobility, F, which I thought quite appropriate for such a grand lady.

She is going to reside in the corner of my bedroom and she will also make guest appearances on the trade show stands.

Flower Market, Columbia Road,London

On Sunday we took a trip into London to meet some friends and they showed us the Flower Market on Columbia Road, WOW what a sight. It was hustle and bustle, packed tight of people with arms filled with plants and flowers. The air was full of beautiful scents and the barrel boys were peddling their wares loudly. We were so impressed that we are going to go back again this Sunday, and Christian is making me white window boxes this week for the front of our house.
This year I have would like to have my garden beds filled with white geraniums, white bizzy lizzies and white rinoculous.

Columbia Road flower market and shops are open on Sundays from 8am ’til 3'ish. Columbia Road is in the East End sitting on the edge of the city with Shoreditch to the west and Brick Lane and Spitalfields nearby.

Easter Time 2010

My Easter decorating has taken on a little bit of a country cottage theme this year with lots of vintage linens and doilies. I managed to put aside two hours the other evening and make myself a new Easter apron with layers of crochet lace and embroidery anglais across the front pockets.

Whilst in Australia last Easter I found this divine hand embroidered hyacinth design table cloth in a vintage store that was owned by my sister-in-laws Mum. I loved it the moment I saw it and the pattern is in all four corners with small buds and branches scattered in the middle. Even my collection of vintage glass cake stands have made an appearance, stacked up on top of each other with lots of chicks, eggs and rick-rac cupcakes piled high.

Now for a bake-a-thon of biscuits and Easter cupcakes.
Have a lovely Easter to you all.
