A few of my favorite things
The sun is out today and all is manic in the world of Cavania. Even though there are not enough hours in the day I still cant believe how lucky I am, every day I wake up and I have a gorgeous family and a wonderful job. All be-it at times stressful but I wouldn't change Cavania in any way. In a happy mood today and here are a few of my favorite things that make me smile.
I adore peonies and my Mum brought with her a bunch when visiting last week, thank you Mum x.
A painting by my late Grandfather Christopher Sanders RA, and my daughters piano. The piano is just over 100 years old and I found it in a junk shop for £50 and that included delivery!! I love listening to Faye practicing.
A treasure find at a local car boot of some vintage greeting cards, with beautiful embroidery and the most darling of messages on the reverse.
In the background my Gustarvian clock a Valentines day surprise present from my very romantic husband. Dated around 1740 and it has a heart shaped glazed detail.
And Meme my furry best friend, she keeps me company all day with cuddles and her moaning, sorry meowing. She is a Tonkanise and is so talkative, she chose her own name because it's always about me- me.

Summer Fair 2008
Another trade show, this time it's Summer Fair at Excel in London. This is the second year of the show and from what we have seen whilst setting up it looks fantastic. We have spent two days and all is finished and ready for Sunday, so hopefully we will see you there. All the new jewellery looking lovely hanging from a tree branch. This would make for a great display idea in a gift store, if you do not have room for a display cabinet simply paint a branch (fallen of cousre) and hang on chains above your counter. Tie and knot the jewellery onto the branch with ribbon and you don't have to worry about any going for an unauthorised walk! The lights reflecting off the glass beads would make for a real magnet and talking point in the store.
Mary Portas, retail guru & star of BBC TV series Mary Queen of Shops, speaking at Summer Fair. I have seen her talk before and she really knows her stuff so all you stores visiting the show do please take out some time and watch her seminar, it's FREE. For times and dates of Mary's seminars simply check out the shows website, www.summerfair.com. This is also where you can register.

Press News
A short while ago I was asked if I would answer a few questions on Hand Made Cards for the Greetings Today Magazine, and this months copy arrived today. To my surprise there was the interview and we also had been mentioned in the ask the expert section, which is were shops are asked who's selling well and why. Then to top it all off our mens cards were in the spotlight section at the back of the issue. Click on image to read interview

A Banksy Moment
Whilst visiting Brixham, Devon a few weeks ago we stumbled across a piece of graffiti art that looked very much like the work of Banksy. It was on the side of a building next to the harbour and Faye was around to lend a hand, and tried to help the little girl catch her balloon.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Banksy is a well-known pseudo-anonymous[1] English graffiti artist. He is believed to be a native of Yate, South Gloucestershire, near Bristol[1] and to have been born in 1974,[2] but there is substantial public uncertainty about his identity and personal and biographical details.[3] According to Tristan Manco, Banksy "was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England. The son of a photocopier engineer, he trained as a butcher but became involved in graffiti during the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s."[4] His artworks are often-satirical pieces of art on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics. His street art, which combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stencilling technique, is similar to Blek le Rat, who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris and members of the anarcho-punk band Crass who maintained a graffiti stencil campaign on the London Tube System in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His art has appeared in cities around the world.[5] Banksy's work was borne out of the Bristol underground scene which involved collaborations between artists and musicians.
Banksy does not sell photos of street graffiti or mount exhibitions of screenprints in commercial galleries.
